Visit Gallery Berthelsen

Frisegade 1. st. tv. Nykøbing F.

Welcome to Galleri Berthelsen

Visit the unique Gallery Berthelsen in one of the oldest buildings in Nykøbing F, which oozes with the aesthetics of odd angles from a bygone era.

The gallery is located in the Latin quarter, which provides just the right atmosphere with cozy shops and cafes. So make it an excursion and go exploring with a visit.

Galleri Berthelsen is owned by Heidi Berthelsen and features three resident artists, each specializing in a distinct artistic category (see the profiles of the individual artists below). Guest artists are also featured from time to time, ensuring there is always new art to experience in the gallery—from both the resident artists and guest exhibitors.

When this white gold finds its way into my hands, it is transformed with great creativity and love into beautiful, timeless brooches, thysjewelry, pendants, clips and sticks, which emphasize the woman’s femininity.

Nature has always inspired me.

I am captivated by the interplay of light and the temperament of colors. They can be bold or understated, lending the subject—and the work itself—that precise sense of balance which highlights and reinforces the painting’s evocative mood.

I also design bags—large and small—and sew them using the finest quality leathers.

I derive great pleasure from working with the clay.

The whole process, the idea, the shaping/creation, decoration, glaze selection and firing. Whether Raku firing is the plan or stoneware firing I choose, the final result is always exciting.

I would like my ceramics to bring joy, both through sight and touch.

Lærke Laura

Lark Laura works with shards of glass and their inherent stories. By reworking the material, she offers a new perspective on the life cycle of glass. Central to the work is transformation, reusability and sensuality, where the material follows its natural tendencies – it bends, melts and adheres arbitrarily. The final expression clearly bears the stamp of the process; the glass seems to be caught in the middle of a movement. Each glass contains a special, sensuous quality and invites tactile exploration.

Background story of the gallery building

Ritmestergården is a half-timbered building on the corner of Frisegade and Store Kirkestræde in Nykøbing Falster. Built in 1630, it is one of the town’s oldest buildings and has been a listed building since 1918.

The oldest part of the existing building was constructed around 1620–1630, dating it to the Renaissance. A wing facing Frisegade was built around 1740. Its central location in the old part of the town indicates that the building was owned by prominent citizens. (Source: Wikipedia)
